Technical Due Diligence & Code Audit

Know exactly what code you are buying or inheriting — its quality, architecture, security and technical debt — before you sign, invest or commit to a roadmap.

When you need an independent audit

01

Investment or acquisition

You are about to fund or buy a software company. The pitch covers the product and the market; the audit tells you what the code, the architecture and the team can actually carry.

02

A CTO inheriting a codebase

You have just taken over a system you did not build. Before you commit to a roadmap, you need an outside view of where it is solid and where it will break.

03

A vendor is leaving

Your development partner is winding down or the contract is ending. An audit establishes what you are receiving, what is undocumented and what a new team will have to fix first.

04

AI-generated code

Part of the system was written with AI assistants. It may run, but nobody has checked it for security gaps, duplicated logic or code that the team cannot maintain.

Two fixed-scope packages

Scope, duration and starting price are agreed up front. You know what you will receive before we start.

Code Health Audit

1–2 weeks from €4,500
  • Code review and static analysis
  • Architecture assessment
  • Performance profiling
  • Security review of code and dependencies
  • Technical debt estimate
Deliverable

Written report with a risk map and a prioritised remediation plan

Option: audit of AI-generated code

Technical Due Diligence

2–3 weeks from €8,500
  • Everything in the Code Health Audit
  • Team and delivery process
  • Scalability and infrastructure
  • Open-source licence compliance
  • Risks that matter to an investor or acquirer
Deliverable

Investor-ready report and a read-out session with your decision makers

For pre-investment and M&A decisions

Not sure yet? Start with our free technical debt checklist — 42 yes/no questions across seven areas of your system.

What the report contains

Risk map

Findings grouped by area — code, architecture, security, performance, process — and rated by business impact, not by how interesting they are to engineers.

Technical debt estimate

Where the debt sits, what it costs you in day-to-day delivery and what it would take to pay it down.

Priorities

A clear line between what must be fixed now, what can wait for the next quarter and what you can consciously accept.

Action plan

Concrete remediation steps in order, so your team, a new vendor or ARDURA can start work the week after the read-out.

How it works

1

NDA and access

We sign an NDA, agree the scope and receive read access to repositories, documentation and, where relevant, environments.

2

Automated scans and manual review

Static analysis and dependency scans give us coverage; senior engineers then read the critical paths by hand to separate real risks from tool noise.

3

Team interviews

Short conversations with the people who build and run the system explain why the code looks the way it does and how delivery really works.

4

Report and read-out

You receive the written report and we walk your decision makers through the findings, answering questions before you act on them.

Proof

Our Software Rescue engagements start with this kind of audit. In our SaaS platform rescue case study, a two-week technical audit of a platform left behind by an outsourced vendor identified the critical issues and ranked them by business impact — and that list became the plan that took the platform from constant outages to stable production.

Next step: if the audit shows the system needs stabilising or a vendor transition, Software Rescue picks up from the action plan.

07 Frequently Asked Questions

Do you sign an NDA before the audit?

Yes. We sign an NDA before we receive any access to your code, documentation or systems.

What access do you need to our code and systems?

Read access to the source code repositories and to the documentation you have — architecture notes, tickets, runbooks. Access to test or production environments is optional; it helps with performance and infrastructure findings, but the audit can be done without it. We never need write access.

Can you audit code generated with AI assistants?

Yes. It is available as an option in the Code Health Audit. We look at the issues typical of AI-generated code: security gaps, unvetted dependencies, duplicated logic and code that works but that your team will struggle to maintain.

How is a technical audit different from a penetration test?

An audit reviews the code, the architecture and the delivery process from the inside — it shows why problems exist and what they cost. A penetration test attacks a running system from the outside to find exploitable vulnerabilities. The two are complementary: the audit includes a security review of code and dependencies, but it does not replace a pentest of the live system.

How long does it take and what does it cost?

There are two fixed-scope packages. The Code Health Audit takes 1–2 weeks and starts from €4,500. Technical Due Diligence, which adds team and process, scalability, infrastructure and open-source licence compliance, takes 2–3 weeks and starts from €8,500. The final price depends on the size of the system and is agreed before we start.

Who is the report written for?

For the people who make the decision. The Code Health Audit report is written for CTOs and engineering leaders who need a remediation plan. The Technical Due Diligence report is written so that investors, acquirers and boards can read it without an engineering background and see which risks affect the value of the deal.

What happens after the audit?

You own the report and the action plan, and you decide who carries it out — your team, another vendor or us. If the system needs stabilising or a vendor transition, ARDURA can continue with Software Rescue, starting from the priorities set in the audit.
