Node.js is the most common choice in Poland for backends of web and mobile products, API layers and real-time applications. Many Node.js developers also work on the frontend, which affects the price. This page sets out what a Node.js developer costs in 2026 — as a provider rate and as the developer’s own earnings. All provider rates come from our body leasing rate benchmark for 2026 and are net of VAT.

How much does a Node.js developer cost in Poland in 2026?

The table shows what a client pays for a Node.js backend developer through staff augmentation, by seniority. Daily rates assume an eight-hour day; monthly figures assume 160 billable hours. Euro values use 4.30 PLN per EUR.

SeniorityPLN per hourPLN per dayEUR per dayPLN per month (160 h)
Junior90-130720-1,040165-24014,400-20,800
Mid130-1801,040-1,440240-33520,800-28,800
Senior180-2601,440-2,080335-48528,800-41,600
Lead / principal260-3502,080-2,800485-65041,600-56,000

If the role is full-stack — Node.js on the backend plus React, Angular or Vue on the frontend — the benchmark uses a separate band: PLN 140-190 an hour for mid-level, PLN 190-270 for senior and PLN 270-350 for principal. On-site work in a large city usually adds 10-15%, and very short engagements of under three months add 15-25%.

How much do Node.js developers earn in Poland?

The provider rate and the developer’s pay are two different numbers. The most detailed public source is the Bulldogjob IT Community Survey 2025, which reports pay by main programming language rather than by runtime, so Node.js developers fall under JavaScript or TypeScript. On employment contracts it reports take-home (net) pay; on B2B, the net amount on the invoice.

  • Developers whose main language is TypeScript (all seniority levels): median PLN 20,280 on B2B and PLN 11,000 take-home on employment.
  • Developers whose main language is JavaScript (all seniority levels): median PLN 19,000 on B2B and PLN 9,000 take-home on employment.
  • Senior backend developers (all backend languages): median PLN 25,000 on B2B and PLN 14,000 take-home on employment.
  • Senior full-stack developers: median PLN 24,000 on B2B and PLN 12,000 take-home on employment.

A take-home salary of PLN 11,000 corresponds to roughly PLN 17,000 gross a month under 2026 tax rules. We explain the conversion in our comparison of B2B and employment net pay.

These are survey medians, not offers. Node.js developers with experience in high-traffic systems or cloud-native architecture earn well above them.

Why is the provider rate higher than the developer’s own rate?

A senior Node.js developer invoicing PLN 150-170 an hour directly and the same developer placed through a provider at PLN 180-260 an hour are not the same purchase. The provider rate includes:

  • Recruitment and vetting — sourcing, technical interviews and reference checks.
  • A replacement guarantee — if the developer leaves or does not fit, the provider supplies a replacement.
  • Administration — the contract with the specialist, invoicing and compliance.
  • The provider’s margin.

The client also pays only for hours worked, with no pay for holidays, sick leave or gaps between projects. We compare this with direct employment and direct B2B in our analysis of total employer cost in Poland in 2026. In that model, a directly hired senior costs about PLN 219 per productive hour.

What pushes a Node.js developer’s rate up?

Within each seniority band, the price depends mostly on the ecosystem and the kind of system:

  • TypeScript and frameworks. TypeScript is the standard for commercial Node.js backends, often with NestJS; Express and Fastify remain common. A developer who works only in plain JavaScript is usually priced lower.
  • Current Node.js versions. Node.js 24 entered long-term support at the end of October 2025 and is maintained until April 2028. Migrating services from older, unsupported versions is a common task in 2026.
  • Scale and architecture. Experience with high-traffic APIs, event-driven microservices, message queues, caching and performance tuning moves a developer up the senior band.
  • Cloud and serverless. Production experience with AWS Lambda or other serverless platforms, containers and infrastructure as code is often expected at senior level.
  • Full-stack skills. A developer who can also build the frontend covers two roles, and the full-stack band reflects that.

How do Polish Node.js rates compare with Germany and the UK?

The average hourly rate of an IT freelancer in Germany is EUR 95 (freelancermap Freelancer-Kompass 2025), about EUR 760 for an eight-hour day. A senior Node.js developer from Poland through staff augmentation costs EUR 335-485 a day, so the Polish rate is typically 35-55% lower — and the German figure is a direct freelancer rate, without any agency margin.

In the UK, the median contract rate for a senior developer was GBP 525 a day in the six months to 16 January 2026 (IT Jobs Watch), about EUR 610. Against that, the Polish senior rate is roughly 20-45% lower.

What monthly budget should you plan for a Node.js team?

A product team with a Node.js backend — one lead, one senior backend developer, one senior full-stack developer and one mid-level developer — at the middle of each band costs about:

  • Lead: PLN 305 per hour × 160 h = PLN 48,800
  • Senior backend: PLN 220 × 160 h = PLN 35,200
  • Senior full-stack: PLN 230 × 160 h = PLN 36,800
  • Mid: PLN 155 × 160 h = PLN 24,800

That is about PLN 145,600 a month, or roughly EUR 33,900. A full-stack developer costs slightly more per hour than a backend specialist, but in a small team one person covering both sides can save a whole seat.

What should a request include to get an accurate Node.js quote?

A precise request narrows the rate band and shortens the time to start. Before asking providers for a Node.js developer, it is worth writing down:

  • The actual scope of work — new development, maintenance or migration, and the parts of the system the developer will own.
  • The stack in detail — Node.js version, TypeScript, frameworks such as NestJS or Express, and any frontend framework for full-stack roles, plus the cloud and CI/CD tools the team uses.
  • Domain and constraints — a regulated industry, security requirements, and the languages the developer must work in, such as English or German.
  • The working model — remote or on-site, time-zone overlap, the expected start date and the length of the engagement.
  • The team around the role — team size, whether there is a tech lead and how technical decisions are made.

The last point matters more than it seems. A senior developer joining a team without a lead often has to take on part of the lead’s work, which moves the right profile — and the rate — upwards. Stating this at the start avoids a mismatch after onboarding.

When is staff augmentation better than hiring a Node.js developer directly?

Hiring directly is cheaper per hour if you need the same person for several years and can find them in a reasonable time. Staff augmentation wins when the need is time-limited, urgent or hard to fill. In our cost model, the break-even point against a direct B2B contract is about nine months. We compare the two models in B2B contract or body leasing in 2026.

How can you hire a Node.js developer through ARDURA Consulting?

We provide Node.js developers through staff augmentation: the specialist joins your team, works in your tools and processes, and you are invoiced for hours worked. Before proposing a rate, we check whether the role needs a backend specialist or a full-stack developer.

Current rate ranges for all roles are on our pricing page, and a broader overview is in our software development rates guide. If you are planning a Node.js team, talk to our team.
